Wow! When I launched the Coffee Spot almost exactly a month ago, I didn’t really know what to expect, but so far, it’s been an amazing experience. It’s also hard to believe that it’s only been a month. It feels like I’ve been doing this for ages!

So what’s the story so far? Well, the Coffee Spot’s been to Edinburgh, the Great Glen Way, Bristol, London and my home town of Guildford. Next week I’m off to Plymouth and Exeter, hunting out more great places, so they’ll feature soon enough. Meanwhile the Coffee Spot itself is staying in Guildford to take a look at another coffee retailer and then going up to London for a takeaway coffee. After that, there’ll be more visits to London and a return to Bristol and Edinburgh.

Finally, the Coffee Shop’s going global! Well, international at least. In the first instance, this will be a retrospective of some places I’ve been in the last couple of years. The shortlist is Paris, Rome, Budapest and Chicago/Milwaukee. If you have any preferences out of those four, leave me a comment and let me know which one(s) you prefer.

I’m really enjoying the Coffee Spot and I intend to carry on. I also know, from the feedback and from the things that people have said to me face-to-face, that you’re enjoying it too. Thank you for all your kind words and encouragement. It means a lot to me.

I’ve got built a small, but fairly enthusiastic readership and similar-sized followings on Facebook and Twitter. Interestingly, there is almost no overlap between the folks on Twitter and those on Facebook, which supports my feeling that they are two very different networks, doing very different things.

However, I would like the reach a wider audience if I can, but to do that, I really need your help. The best (and probably only) way that the Coffee Spot will spread is through word of mouth. A few of you have been spreading the word already, telling your friends, posting on Facebook and retweeting me over on Twitter. I can really see the impact and it’s been a great help in getting the word out. Thank you to all of you who have been busy promoting the Coffee Spot.

If you like what I do, please share it with your friends. Post links to the Coffee Spot or to individual posts on Facebook or Google+ (or use the sharing buttons if you are that way inclined). Even better, write a short status update along with the link. Nothing sells like a personal recommendation and you are my best advertisement.

Also, feel free to post comments on the individual Coffee Spots. Not only do they show me that you like what I’m doing, but you also show the owners of the places that I write about that you like what they’re doing as well. I’ve now put a “Like” button on the Coffee Spot itself, not a Facebook “Like” or a Google “+1”, but just a way you can show your appreciation of an individual post without having to register or write a comment. You can find it at the bottom of each post, after the table.

So, that’s the story so far.
