2020 Awards – Most Popular Coffee Spot

A lovely espresso in a classic white cup, made with the bespoke house-blend at Omotesando Koffee, London. So, here it is, the final Coffee Spot Awards Shortlist for 2020, the only one that you, my readers, decide. It’s the “Most Popular Coffee Spot” Award, which is based on the total number of views received by each Coffee Spot in 2020.

Last year this was won last year by Omotesando Koffee, London with 806 views. This year’s shortlist features the 10 most viewed Coffee Spots, four of which are from my hometown of Guildford, with two more from Caversham. Only five are what could be described as classic Coffee Spot write ups, with two COVID-19 updates, a Meet the Roaster and two Saturday Supplements (one of which is really about travel).

You can see the shortlist after the gallery.

  • Mythical Coffee, roaster and coffee shop extraordinaire in Gilbert, Arizona.
  • Ue Coffee Roasters, the UK's only wood-fired speciality coffee roaster.
  • In praise of Amtrak's Full Dining Service.
  • Canopy Coffee, making the transition from sit-in coffee shop to takeaway only.
  • Peak Water, 2020's most anticipated home coffee product launch?
  • Krema Coffee, responding to the twists and turns of the pandemic.
  • The Gardens of Caversham, Workhouse Coffee's latest outpost in Caversham.
  • Koja by Surrey Hills Coffee, assuming the mantle of an old favourite.
  • The newly-opened Ceylon House of Coffee, Guildford's fourth entry on this year's shortlist.
  • The Collective, Caversham's second entry, rounding off this year's top 10.

A special mention needs to go to the following:

  • Sage Barista Express: when it was published in 2017, my post on the Sage Barista Express was third. Had it been included in subsequent years, it would have come second in 2018, second in 2019 and this year it would have won (with an impressive 3,780 views)!
  • Made by Knock: Aergrind: 2017’s winner has been popular ever since and this year, with over 2,000 views, it would have finished second.
  • Coffee Spot Guide to Reusable Cups: another perennially popular post, this would have won in both 2018 and 2019 and, this year, it would have been third with over 1,500 views.
  • Reflecting the stay-at-home year we’ve had, if I had included the posts from my Coffee at Home series, nine of the ten entries on this year’s shortlist would have been Coffee at Home posts!

And the winner is Peak Water
Runners-up: Ceylon House of Coffee and Ue Coffee Roasters
