2021 Awards – Most Popular Coffee Spot

My new Peak Water filter jug, fresh out of the box.So, here it is, the final Coffee Spot Awards Shortlist for 2021, the only one that you, my readers, decide. It’s the “Most Popular Coffee Spot” Award, which is based on the total number of views received by each Coffee Spot in 2021. Note that only Coffee Spots published in 2021 are eligible for this award, otherwise the top three would be from 2017, 2018 and 2020!

Last year the Most Popular Coffee Spot was Peak Water, which received over 1,000 views. This year’s shortlist features the 10 most viewed Coffee Spots, and, for the second year running, four of them are from my hometown of Guildford, with another four from around the country. The remaining two are Saturday Supplements, both about coffee equipement.

You can see the shortlist after the gallery.

  • Lily London, Guildford, a speciality coffee shop in a telephone box.
  • Sage Barista Express Revisited, taking another look at my home espresso machine.
  • Espresso Farm, on Umberslade Park Farm in the Warwickshire countryside.
  • Electric Coffee Co., Goldhawk Road, a little gem in Hammersmith.
  • The Old Roastery Coffee Shop, one of many new openings in Guildford.
  • Open Grounds Cafe, another new opening in Guildford, albeit from late 2020.
  • Sam's Coffee, a new home (Llangollen) for a Liverpool coffee legend.
  • The Hideaway, yet another new opening in Guildford.
  • Sarah's Leytonstone, the latest venture from Sarah of B-Tempted.
  • Soulhand Gooseneck Kettle, more fancy coffee kit for me!

There are ten Coffee Spots on the shortlist this year, all listed in order of publication.

Lily London, Guildford
Sage Barista Express Revisited
Espresso Farm
Electric Coffee Co., Goldhawk Road
The Old Roastery Coffee Shop
Open Grounds Café
Sam’s Coffee
The Hideaway
Sarah’s Leytonstone
Soulhand Gooseneck Kettle

A special mention needs to go to the following:

  • Sage Barista Express: when it was published in 2017, my post on the Sage Barista Express was third. Had it been included in subsequent years, it would have come second in 2018 and 2019, while for the last two years it would have won.
  • Peak Water: last year’s winner would have finished second this year, a handful of views behind the Sage Barista Express.
  • Coffee Spot Guide to Reusable Cups: another perennially popular post, this would have won in both 2018 and 2019, while for the last two years it would have been third, narrowly behind Peak Water and the Sage Barista Express.
  • Frank Green Ceramic Cup: published late last year, this didn’t make the shortlist in 2020, but had it been published this year, it would have been the clear winner!

And the winner is Lily London, Guildford
Runners-up: The Old Roastery Coffee Shop and Open Grounds Café
